Founded with a dedication to excellence and diversity, Berkeley Ballet Theater is a groundbreaking non-profit organization providing professional-level ballet training to dancers of any age, race, gender, or socio-economic class with the goal of breaking down the narrow, monochromatic aesthetic traditional to ballet.
BBT has a 35-year legacy of dancers who have gone on to professional careers at the highest level of the art form as well as others who have chosen professional careers outside the arts but maintained a lifelong love and appreciation for ballet.
|Pre-Ballet Division||Through creative play and imaginative exercises, young dancers age 2.5 – 6.5 learn to connect rhythm and movement in fun group dynamic. These classes awaken the child to music and dance, coordination, and spatial/motor skills.|
|Youth Division||Dancers age 7 - 21 study a rigorous curriculum of ballet technique, pointe, pas de deux, modern, pilates and variations classes in a positive, healthy and nurturing environment. Advanced dancers are invited to audition for the Youth Company, a pre-professional training track that includes additional master classes and workshops with nationally renowned guest teachers.|
|Boys' Fellowship Program||The promotion of young men in ballet is a critical piece of BBT’s programming. Our Boys’ Fellowship Program offers young men a range of training from beginning through pre-professional levels including specialty classes, mentorship and financial support.|
