The Youth Division at Berkeley Ballet Theater brings the joy of dance, with its physical, mental, and aesthetic benefits to children age 7 – 21. Whatever a student’s goal, we believe it is best achieved in a disciplined, positive, and loving environment. All students in the Youth Division have the opportunity to perform in The Nutcracker and the Spring Showcase.
This is a progressive, classical ballet program and students are required to attend for at least a semester to receive the full benefit of the training. The school session starts in September with an additional January mid-session start date. Classes are held two to five times weekly depending on level.
Advanced dancers are invited to participate in the pre-professional Youth Company program. In addition to performance opportunities, Youth Company members participate in master classes and learn advanced repertory from internationally renowned choreographers and teachers.
Please contact the BBT office if you have questions regarding a dancer’s placement. New families will be contacted by the Associate Artistic Director for a brief intake conversation after completing registration.
