Studio Company (ages 12–21)

Empowering young artists

BBT's Studio Company invites Youth Division dancers in Levels 7, 8, and 9 to share their love of dance with the community through performances in BBT's annual programming as well as collaborations with organizations such as Berkeley Symphony, BAMPFA, and San Francisco Girls Chorus.

In addition to their rigorous training schedules, dancers in BBT’s Studio Company rehearse for up to 6 hours a week, working on both classical and contemporary repertoire by established and emerging choreographers. The level of dedication required of BBT’s Studio Company dancers builds deep connections between the students that can last a lifetime. The creative expectations of these dancers challenges them to grow and take risks, and the physical demands required by the broad range of repertoire the dancers encounter pushes them to reach their full potential as dancers.

Recent performances include new works by Alexis Borth, Raymond Ejiofor, Laura O’Malley, Dani Rowe, Keon Saghari, Vanessa Thiessen, Chuck Wilt, Ky Woodward-Sollesnes, BBT’s Artistic Director Robin Dekkers, and BBT’s Artistic Director Emerita Sally Streets.
